Welcome, Dakotah!

We’re excited to introduce Dakotah Poitra, one of our newest Associate Consultants! Learn more about her career journey and what excites her about life in this interview.

Tell us about your new role at Holistic! What do you do? Who are you working with?

I am celebrating my 8th week at Holistic! Since being at Holistic for almost two months, I have already learned so much and met an amazing group of co-workers and clients. At Holistic, I work as an Associate Consultant and primarily work alongside Lead Client Consultants in any supportive capacity that I can.

We’re interested in learning more about your background. Can you tell us more about your career journey?

I started my career journey in the nonprofit sector by providing career and leadership development programming for girls and women who are current and former female athletes. As a former collegiate athlete myself, the work I did was incredibly meaningful and rewarding. In 2020, I choose to pursue my Master's in Organizational Leadership, which I am currently in the process of wrapping up come May 2022. Alongside receiving my master's degree I work as a Graduate Assistant in the North Central College Athletics Department. My background in nonprofit work and higher education lead me to explore organizations with a mission focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Holistic came across my screen and it felt like a great fit!

Let’s switch gears. What excites you about life? What gives you hope?

What excites me about life is the endless possibilities. As scary as it may sound, we are not guaranteed time. But the beautiful thing is that every single day we are able to make choices that align with our personal values. I believe if we continue to live by our values (which can evolve and change) then we are more likely to live fulfilled lives.

Who is someone you admire?

I remember answering this question in 3rd grade and every time I have been asked since it has never changed. I admire my older sister. Though we have a 12-year age difference between us, we have always been extremely close. I admire my sister for her resilience, authenticity, and patience throughout her roles as a sister, daughter, mother, career woman, and friend. I am very grateful to have her in my life.

If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do with it?

If I had an extra hour each day I would add it to the earlier part of my day to lengthen my morning. I enjoy waking up early, tidying my spaces, and making a cup of coffee. I would use the extra hour to sit with my coffee a little longer and sit in the sun.

Lastly, what do you do for fun?

I take my role as a dog mom very seriously and find joy in taking my dog Goose to explore new parks and forest preserves. I enjoy going to concerts in Chicago that have unique venues. I also enjoy cozying up with a good book!

Welcome to the team, Dakotah!
