Holistic Gives: Introducing Our New Charitable Giving Program

As we reflected on what really mattered to us in 2021, we created a new employee benefit that mirrors our values and our commitment to making the world a more fair and equitable place. This month, we are officially launching "Holistic Gives," our new employee charitable giving program. Holistic will donate $200 on behalf of each team member to a charity or non-profit of their choosing. We will be highlighting our team members throughout the year and sharing their donation story. We chose Alfred Xu to kick off Holistic Gives this February. Follow along throughout the year as we highlight the charities our team has selected and what “Holistic Gives” means to them.

First, we have Alfred who has chosen to donate to THON. THON is a student-run philanthropy at Penn State that is committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Their mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness and ensure funding for critical research.

Why did you choose this charity?

THON raised $11,696,942.38 in 2020!

This charity originated at Penn State, the university that I graduated a few years ago. It supports the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. I participated in the THON dance marathon event every year during my time at Penn State and every year I was encouraged by the passionate individuals who supported this event.

How does THON connect to Holistic’s mission and values?

Holistic is a people-focused consulting firm. Even though supporting finding the cure to childhood cancer is not part of our daily work, we care and we assist the development of diverse, equitable and inclusive environments in the world.

What does “Holistic Gives” mean to you?

Holistic Gives is a brilliant and meaningful employee benefit. It gives me the opportunity to participate in charitable events and make contributions to people in need. I've been donating for the past few years by myself, but now I am glad to have the company and the team supporting the charity with me.

What can other people do to support or learn more about THON?

Penn state offers a THON advertising party every year in late February. THON participants will raise money and dance for 48 hours without sleep just to attract charitable donations. If people have a chance to take a look at the event and its social media coverage, you will be surprised by the energy and strength within those folks. To donate to the cause, visit the official THON website.

Does your company have an employee charitable giving program? We’d love to hear from you!
