Amplifying Employee Voices – Yello Shares Holistic Public Facing Report Externally

Companies are realizing that the focus on workplace culture has become increasingly important to employees and potential job applicants, and more specifically, the culture surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Even further, employees want transparency about where companies are on their journeys to improve culture and DEI.

Yello, a technology recruiting company and one of our clients, set out to do just that. We worked closely with Yello to produce a personalized Holistic Public Facing Report (HPFR) which collects employee feedback and metrics to express employee experience, demographics, compensation and benefits, company culture, and sentiments about leadership.

The Holistic Public Facing Report was designed to present objective data that elevates organizational transparency, positivity, proactivity, and honesty. We score the data collected through our Holistic analysis process and present it in an easily digestible format that provides clients with the chance to proactively and honestly tell their brand story.

As VP of People at Yello, Jen Meza is in charge of attracting, developing, and retaining the people who make their product and support their customers. On top of that, she works to maintain their culture, help employees be successful, and help them grow in their careers.

Yello decided to implement the HPFR and take it a step further by sharing the DEI portion of the report publicly on their website. One of the goals was to make sure employees knew it wasn’t only going to be seen by leadership. “It's one thing to share this information at a company all-hands but it's a very different thing to put it out publicly. In the past, we've always shared those things internally and now we're sharing them externally. I think this is good progress for us,” Jen shares.

Google Data Studio turns your data into informative dashboards and reports that are easy to read, easy to share, and fully customizable.

Conversations about transparency are highly valued by employees especially when it comes from leadership, and the HPFR helps Yello translate the sentiment into something concrete. It’s also important that future job candidates can see how people who work there feel about the employee experience simply by looking at the website. The hope is that it lets potential job candidates or people who are interested in using Yello as a product know that they’re committed to talking about diversity, equity, and inclusion and are taking on the role of public accountability.

“People are hungry for information and it comes from a curiosity to know what’s behind the curtain,” says Sheila Shenoy, one of our consultants at Holistic. “There’s a major desire for metrics based on repeated requests – from both clients and candidates alike – and companies that share their progress are able to present that narrative.”

One of the unique features of the HPFR is how it delivers the data in a personalized way. The data is blended with the voice of the employee so what you are seeing is data and quotes coming directly from them. “I appreciated that Holistic reviewed it with our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. They talked to employees about the HPFR, what they wanted to see from it, and what was important to them to share. It wasn't just a conversation with me; it was also a conversation with employees. That was important because their feedback is the heart of the HPFR.”

Companies are right to wonder, is the HPFR right for everyone? Would companies who have been through the process of obtaining the HPFR recommend it? "I certainly would, but it depends on where they are,” Jen recommends. "What’s nice about it is that you can focus on where your company is and what you want to share. It’s a great tool for companies that are interested in transparency, open communication, and showing employees that their feedback is heard and valued.”

Wherever your organization is on their journey to evaluate employee experience, DEI, or public transparency, the HPFR can help you assess employee sentiment and hard data, The HPFR gives you an accessible, interactive, and full picture of where you are in the current moment which can help you determine where you want to go.
