Meet Maggie Heaps: Communications Associate at Holistic

We’re excited to introduce Maggie Heaps, our new Communications Associate! Learn more about her background, current role, and hobbies in this interview.

Tell us about your role at Holistic. What do you do? Who do you work with?

I’m a Communications Associate at Holistic which means I focus on celebrating client stories and Holistic team happenings through our blog, social media, and newsletters. Our clients are constantly doing great work and we want to share that with the world. The team at Holistic is also filled with extremely talented and interesting people so I try to show them off as well.

Tell us about your background. How did you end up here?

I graduated from Villanova University in 2020 where I studied English, Political Science, and Communications. I’ve always loved reading and telling stories which developed my knack for writing. I have experience in Public Relations which helped me hone my writing skills and taught me how to find stories worth listening to.

While I’ve never been to Chicago, it’s been fun jumping into the network and I hope to meet everyone in person once the pandemic is over.

What’s something that has surprised you since joining Holistic?

The warm and collaborative work environment is incredible. I’m blown away by how brilliant, kind, and generous people are at Holistic. I’m proud to work for a company that has a clear mission and strong values.

For a team of 15 people, the outputs are unbelievable. The energy of a start-up is so special and I was able to implement new ideas on week 1.

In your mind what does a great employee experience look like?

In my mind, a great employee experience is one where there is a clear sense of belonging. When you make people feel seen and heard, they’re more likely to bring their best self to work.

What do you do for fun?

I live in New Hampshire so I spend a lot of time outdoors, whether it’s going to the beach in the summer or going skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. My siblings and I are really close so we do a lot of that together. I’m also obsessed with Taylor Swift, so I’m constantly listening to her music with friends.

What’s a hobby you adopted in quarantine?

I started reading again for enjoyment and it’s been a lot of fun. My favorite books have been Little Women and Hidden Valley Road. My goal is to read 40 books in 2021! I also picked up running which has been great for fitness and stress relief. I put on my favorite music and basically dance/run the whole time.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I learned how to recite 22 digits of pi in the second grade and I’m really good at hula-hooping. I also know the lyrics to every Taylor Swift song.
